Why you should get a mold inspection

There are a number of signs that mold might be present and causing issues in your home or workplace environment. If you want to discover the chances of abnormal mold conditions and/or mold growth in your home or workplace a moisture & mold inspection by a properly certified mold inspector is likely in order. If mold is detected, proper mold removal and mold remediation steps can be taken place immediately to ensure the permanent removal of mold.

First Sign of Mold - Visual

The first is visual observation of a substance that appears like it might be mold. Sometimes the locations are in obvious places like under a sink that has had a leak, on drywall or carpet that has had exposure to water, the ceiling above the shower, on food left in the refrigerator too long. Other observable areas, although less obvious might be in a crawl space, bottom of a cardboard box sitting on the basement floor, behind a dresser or in a closet where there is poor ventilation (especially on exterior walls), attics where the roof has leaked or there is inadequate ventilation.

Second Sign of Mold - Smell

Second, you might smell something musty, damp or moldy. Molds can give off gas odors known as mVOC’s (microbial volatile organic compounds); we would simply call them ‘a musty smell’. This is a great clue but not always proof that there is a mold growth indoors.

Third Sign of Mold - Health Problems

Third, you or someone else may be experiencing health responses when spending time in a particular home, work or area and those symptoms seem to abate or disappear when you spend time away only to return when returning to those areas. Or maybe a healthcare professional suggests you may have a problem in your home or work environment related to mold.
